BB hikes banks’ agri loan disbursement targets

Bangladesh Bank (BB) has raised banks’ targets for disbursement of loans among farmers and rural areas for 2024-25 fiscal year.
The central bank said banks will have to disburse Tk 38,000 crore in loans for agriculture and rural areas in the current fiscal year, a target which is 8.75 percent higher year-on-year, according to a press conference held at the BB headquarters today.
The BB included some new crops in the agricultural loan plans.
It has also included Shariah-based banks in the rural and farm loan scheme to enable them to invest in agriculture.
